Hydraulic head ( \(h\) ) is the measurement mechanical energy due to pressure of a fluid from a higher elevation to a lower elevation.

Hydraulic Head Formula

\(\large{ h = \frac {p}{g \rho} }\)         

\(\large{ h =  h_1 \;-\; h_2  }\)         

Where:

\(\large{ h }\)= head

\(\large{ g }\) = gravitational acceleration

\(\large{ h_1 }\) = pressure head at point 1

\(\large{ h_2 }\) = pressure head at point 2

\(\large{ p }\) = pressure

\(\large{ \rho }\)   (Greek symbol rho) = density
