An irrational number is a number that cannot be written as a fraction. 

Irrational Number

  • \(\pi = 3.141592..... \)
  • \(\sqrt 2 = 1.414213 \)
  • \(\frac {19}{4} = 0.052632 \)

Rational Number

  • \(\sqrt 9 = 3 \)
  • \(\frac {15}{3} = 5 \)
