Rest energy, abbreviated as \(m_0\), of a particle is the mass of a partical that is measured at rest with respect to the observer.

Rest Energy formula

\(\large{ E_0 = m_0 \; c^2 }\)      (Rest Energy)

\(\large{ m_0 = \frac{ E_0 }{ c^2 } }\)

\(\large{ c =  \sqrt{ \frac{ E_0 }{ m_0 }  }  }\)

Symbol English Metric
\(\large{ E_0 }\) = rest energy \(\large{lbf-ft}\)  \(\large{J}\)
\(\large{ m_0 }\) = rest mass \(\large{lbm}\) \(\large{kg}\)
\(\large{ c }\) = speed of light \(\large{\frac{ft}{sec}}\) \(\large{\frac{m}{s}}\)
