Eckert number ( $$Ec$$ ) (dimensionless number) is used to calculate the ratio of the kinetic energy to enthalpy.

### Eckert Number FORMULA

$$\large{ Ec = \frac{v^2 } {2 v \triangle T} }$$

Where:

$$\large{ Ec }$$ = Eckert number

$$\large{ c }$$ = specific heat

$$\large{ \Delta T }$$ = temperature differential

$$\large{ v }$$ = velocity of the flow

Solve for:

$$\large{ v = \sqrt { 2 Ec c \triangle T } }$$

$$\large{ c = \frac{v^2 } {2 Ec \triangle T} }$$

$$\large{ \triangle T = \frac{v^2 } {2 Ec c} }$$
