Hydraulic Head

Written by Jerry Ratzlaff on . Posted in Fluid Mechanics

Hydraulic head is the measurement (mechanical energy) due to pressure of a fluid from a higher elevation to a lower elevation.

formula

\(h = \frac {p}{g \rho}   \)

Where:

\(h\) = hydraulic head

\(p\) = pressure

\(g\) = gravitational acceleration

\(\rho\) = density
