Consistancy Index

Consistancy index, abbreviated as \(l_c\), also called Atterberg limit, is the range of water content to the firmness of the soil.

 

Consistancy Index formula

\(\large{ CL = \frac{ LL \;-\; w }{ PI } \; 100 \%  }\)

Where:

\(\large{ CL }\) = consistancy index

\(\large{ w }\)  = natural water content

\(\large{ PI }\)  = plasticity index

\(\large{ LL }\)  = liquid limit
