Abrasion resistance is the ability of a material to withstand mechanical action such as rubbing, scraping, or erosion that occurs over time.  It is an important property for materials that are subject to wear and tear due to contact with abrasive surfaces or particles.

Abrasion resistance materials are used in various applications such as textiles, coatings, construction materials, automotive parts, and industrial equipment.  For example, in textiles, abrasion resistance ensures that fabrics maintain their integrity and appearance even after repeated use and washing.  In construction materials like concrete, abrasion resistance ensures durability against the effects of traffic and weathering.  Materials with high abrasion resistance are typically harder and more durable, able to withstand friction and wear without significant damage or degradation.  Various factors influence abrasion resistance, including material composition, surface treatments, and manufacturing processes.
