Dielectric constant (measured in farads/meter, F/m) is the measure of a substance to an electric field expressed as the ratio of its electric displacement to the applied field strength.

Abbreviated as \(\epsilon\) (greek symbol epsilon)


\(\epsilon = \frac{ \epsilon_s }{ \epsilon_0 }\)


\(\epsilon\) = dielectric constant

\(\epsilon_s\) = permittivity of the substance

\(\epsilon_0\) = permittivity of a vacuum
