Equation
An equation is a statement that has an equal \( \;(=)\;\) sign in it like:
\(7x-23=19\;\) or\( \; 19x-14=22-8\; \)
Equation breakdown
Expression - Coefficients, constants and variables separate by an operation. \(\;7x-23\;\)
Coefficient - A number multiplied by a variable. \( \;7\)
Variable - An unknown number represented by a symbol. \( \; x,\; y,\;z\; \) and so on.
Operation - addition \( \;(+),\; \) subtraction \( \;(-),\; \) multiplication \( \;(\times),\; \) division \( \;(+)\; \)
Constant - A fixed number. \( \;23\; and \;19\; \)
Commutative Property - Moves equation parts around.
\( a \times b \times c = b \times a \times c = b \times c \times a = c \times a \times b\)
Algebraic Expression - Includes variables, if not, then it is called an arithmetic expression.
Arithmetic Expression - Has no variables.
