Degree of Saturation formulas

\(\large{ S = \frac{V_w}{V_v } \; 100 }\) 
\(\large{ S =  \frac{w \; SG_s }{ e }  }\)

Where:

 Units English Metric
\(\large{ S }\) = degree of saturation (expressed as %) \(\large{dimensionless}\)
\(\large{ SG_s } \) = specific gravity of soil \(\large{dimensionless}\)
\(\large{ e }\) = void ratio \(\large{dimensionless}\)
\(\large{ V_v }\) = volume of voids (air and water) \(\large{ft^3}\) \(\large{m^3}\)
\(\large{ V_w} \) = volume of water \(\large{ft^3}\) \(\large{m^3}\)
