Fraction

A fraction  \(\large{ \frac{3}{8} }\)  is part of a counting number with two parts.  The numerator is the upper part  \(\large{ 3 }\)  and the denominator is the lower part  \(\large{ 8 }\)  of the fraction.

Common Fraction - Both top and bottom are integers.

• \(\large{\; \frac{6}{8} }\) ,  \(\large{ \frac{3}{4} }\)

Common Denominator - Two or more fractions have the same denominator.

• \(\large{\; \frac{1}{4} + \frac{3}{4} }\)

Rational Number - Numbers expressed as a ratio of two numbers.

• \(\large{\; -\frac{1}{8} }\) ,  \(\large{ \frac{3}{4} }\)
