Fraction

A fraction  $\large{ \frac{3}{8} }$  is part of a counting number with two parts.  The numerator is the upper part  $\large{ 3 }$  and the denominator is the lower part  $\large{ 8 }$  of the fraction.

Common Fraction - Both top and bottom are integers.

• $\large{\; \frac{6}{8} }$ ,  $\large{ \frac{3}{4} }$

Common Denominator - Two or more fractions have the same denominator.

• $\large{\; \frac{1}{4} + \frac{3}{4} }$

Rational Number - Numbers expressed as a ratio of two numbers.

• $\large{\; -\frac{1}{8} }$ ,  $\large{ \frac{3}{4} }$
