Bodenstein number, abbreviated as Bo, a dimensionless number, is used in mass transfer and diffusion in reactors calculations in particular.

Bodenstein number formula

\(\large{ Bo = \frac{ v \; l }{ D_a } }\)

Where:

\(\large{ Bo }\) = Bodenstein number

\(\large{ D_a }\) = effective axial diffusivity

\(\large{ l }\) = reaction length

\(\large{ v }\) = velocity
