Water
Water, abbreviated as \(H_{2}O\) or WTR, can exist in three of the four phases of matter: gas, liquid, or solid. It is a odorless, tasteless and transparent liquid, composed of chemical compounds hydrogen and oxygen. It is the most common compound on earth.
Water Properties
- The only chemical compound that occures naturally in all three phases: gas, liquid, or solid
- The only inorganic liquid that occures naturally on the earth.
- Different from most liquids in that it becomes less dense as it freezes.
- Has the highest specific heat of any common substance.
- Has a very high heat of vaporization.
