Drilling String Capacity

on . Posted in Drilling Engineering

Drill string capacity, abbreviated as DSC, is used to determining the volume of drill string drilling fluid.

Drilling String Capacity formula

\( DS_c \;=\;   D_{pid}^2 \; l  \;/\; 1029.4 \)     (Drilling String Capacity)

\( D_{pid} \;=\;  \sqrt{ DS_c \; 1029.4  \;/\; l } \)

\( l \;=\;   DS_c \; 1029.4  \;/\; D_{pid}^2 \)

Symbol English Metric
\( DS_c \) = Drill String Capacity \( bbl \) -
\( D_{pid} \) = Casing / Drill Pipe ID \(in\) -
\( l \) = Length of Drill Hole \(ft\) -

Drilling String Capacity formula

\( DS_c \;=\;   D_{pid}^2 \; l  \;/\; 1273.24 \)     (Drilling String Capacity)

\( D_{pid} \;=\;  \sqrt{ DS_c \; 1273.24 \;/\; l } \)

\( l \;=\;   DS_c \; 1273.24 \;/\; D_{pid}^2 \)

Symbol English Metric
\( DS_c \) = Drill String Capacity - \( l \)
\( D_{pid} \) = Casing / Drill Pipe ID - \(mm\)
\( l \) = Length of Drill Hole - \(m\)
