Drilling String Capacity

on . Posted in Drilling Engineering

Drilling string capacity, abbreviated as DSC, is used to determining the volume of drillstring drilling fluid.

Drilling String Capacity Formula

\( DS_c \;=\;  \dfrac{ D_{pid}^2 \cdot l  }{ 1029.4 }\)     (Drilling String Capacity)

\( D_{pid} \;=\;  \sqrt{ \dfrac{ DS_c \cdot 1029.4  }{ l }  } \)

\( l \;=\; \dfrac{  DS_c \cdot 1029.4  }{ D_{pid}^2 }\)

Symbol English Metric
\( DS_c \) = Drillstring Capacity \( bbl \) -
\( D_{pid} \) = Casing / Drill Pipe ID \(in\) -
\( l \) = Length of Drill Hole \(ft\) -

Drilling String Capacity Formula

\( DS_c \;=\;  \dfrac{ D_{pid}^2 \cdot l  }{ 1273.24 }\)     (Drilling String Capacity)

\( D_{pid} \;=\;  \sqrt{ \dfrac{ DS_c \cdot 1273.24 }{ l } }\)

\( l \;=\;  \dfrac{ DS_c \cdot 1273.24 }{ D_{pid}^2 }\)

Symbol English Metric
\( DS_c \) = Drillstring Capacity - \( l \)
\( D_{pid} \) = Casing / Drill Pipe ID - \(mm\)
\( l \) = Length of Drill Hole - \(m\)
