Psychology 2Psychology is the study of behavior and mental processes.  It is concerned with how individuals think, feel, and act, both as a function of internal processes such as perception, cognition, emotion, and motivation and in response to external environmental stimuli.  As a science, psychology applies rigorous methodologies to investigate phenomena ranging from neural activity in the brain to complex social interactions among individuals and groups.  It integrates biological, cognitive, and socio-environmental perspectives to explain behavior across different contexts and stages of life.Psychology also has both theoretical and applied dimensions.  Theoretical psychology seeks to construct general principles and models that explain behavior and mental processes, while applied use these principles to address practical problems in domains such as mental health, education, industry, and public policy.

Psychology Branches

Biological Psychology  - Investigates the biological bases of behavior, particularly the role of the brain, nervous system, neurotransmitters, and genetics in shaping psychological functions.
Clinical Psychology  -  Focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders and psychological distress.
Cognitive Psychology  - Studies internal mental processes such as perception, attention, memory, language, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Counseling Psychology  -  Addresses emotional, social, vocational, and life adjustment issues in individuals who may not have severe mental illness but still seek support and guidance.
Developmental Psychology  -  Examines how people grow and change across the lifespan, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development from infancy through old age.
Educational Psychology  -  Focuses on how people learn in educational settings, including instructional methods, learning processes, student motivation, and assessment strategies.
Forensic Psychology  -  Applies psychological knowledge to legal and criminal justice contexts, including issues such as criminal behavior, eyewitness testimony, and competency evaluations.
Health Psychology  -  Explores how psychological, behavioral, and social factors influence physical health, illness, and healthcare outcomes.
Social Psychology  -  Focuses on how individuals think, feel, and behave in social contexts, including topics such as group behavior, attitudes, conformity, prejudice, and interpersonal relationships.
Personality Psychology  -  Examines individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, often aiming to understand the structure and development of personality traits.
Neuropsychology  -  Specialized area that studies how brain injuries, neurological diseases, and brain function relate to cognitive processes and behavior.
