Voltage Resolution (Analog to Digital)

Voltage Resolution (Analog to Digital) Formula

V_r \;=\;  \dfrac{ V_h - V_l }{ 2^n  }     (Voltage Resolution)

V_h \;=\;  V_r \cdot 2^n + V_l

V_l \;=\;  V_h - V_r \cdot 2^n

Symbol English Metric
V_r =  Voltage Resolution V V
V_h = High Voltage V V
V_l = Low Voltage V V
n = Conversion Bits (4, 8, 10, 12, 16, etc.) dimensionless dimensionless

Voltage resolution, Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) is the smallest change in voltage that the ADC can detect or represent in its digital output.  It is determined by the number of bits used by the ADC and the range of input voltage it can measure.
