Earthwork cross-section volume is the volume between two cross-section areas.

 

Earthwork Cross-Section Volume formula

\(\large{ V =  \frac{  l \;  \left(  A_1 \;+\; A_2  \right)  }{ 2 }  }\)   

Where:

 Units English Metric
\(\large{ V }\) = earthwork volume \(\large{ft^3}\) \(\large{m^3}\)
\(\large{ A_1 }\) = cross-section area \(\large{ft^2}\) \(\large{m^2}\)
\(\large{ A_2 }\) = cross-section area \(\large{ft^2}\) \(\large{m^2}\)
\(\large{ l }\) = length between 2 cross-section areas \(\large{ft}\) \(\large{m}\)
