Total weight of soil, abbreviated as \( W_t \), is the total weight of soil plus the total weight of water.

\(\large{ W_t =  W_s + W_w    }\)   

Where:

 Units English Metric
\(\large{ W_t }\) = total weight of soil \(\large{lbf}\) \(\large{N}\)
\(\large{ W_s } \) = weight of soil \(\large{lbf}\) \(\large{N}\)
\(\large{ W_w } \) = weight of water \(\large{lbf}\) \(\large{N}\)
