ASME B16.34 - Materials in Group 1.4 - Carbon Steel [1] Upon prolonged exposure to temperatures above 800°F, the carbide phase of the steel may be converted to graphite. Permissible, but not recommended for prolonged use above 800°F. [2] Not to be used over 850°F. [3] Leaded grades shall not be used where welded of in any application above 500°F.
